Carolyn R. Burton, 71, of Hermitage died near Fordyce Wednesday, June 4, 2008, following a lengthy illness. Born February 1, 1937, near the Three Creeks Community in Union County, she was the daughter of John Malcolm and Willie Mae Douglas Rogers, a homemaker and a member of Eagle Lake Baptist Church at Hermitage.

Survivors include her husband, Rev. Buddy Burton; three daughters, Kathy Mabe of Madisonville, NC, Kristi Cates and Steve of El Dorado and Karen Morgan of Hermitage; three brothers, Maurice Rogers and wife Delores of Farmerville, LA, Preston Rogers and wife Faye and Lloyd Rogers and wife Rita of Junction City; one sister, Louise Griffith of Ft. Smith; grandchildren Brandi Nelson (Eric), Paul Smith (Alex), Shannon Noble, Brandon Noble, Ashley Webb and Christin Morgan along with eight great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death along with her parents were a daughter, Karla Delores Burton; a grandson, Michael Ryan Noble; three sisters, Francis Greer, Frankie Meadows and Janette Blackmon and four brothers, Donald, Wayne, Paul and John Rogers.

Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 7, at New London Baptist Church near Strong with Revs. Wayman Mann and Donald Ray Smith officiating. Burial followed in Ebenezer Presbyterian Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home. Online registry available at www.baileyfuneralhome.net.
