Leta Eugenia "Jean" Adkins, 96 of Austin died Thursday, November 3, 2016 in Amarillo. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at the Coleman City Cemetery Pavilion. Burial will be in the Coleman City Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home, Coleman.

She was born Leta Eugenia Miller on September 28, 1920 in Coleman to Robert Clarence "Bob" Miller and Leta Eugenia Goodfellow Miller. She grew up in Coleman and graduated from Coleman High School. She then attended Howard Payne College in Brownwood and graduated from Texas Woman's University in Denton with a Bachelor of Science Degree. On June 30, 1950, she married Dr. Thomas Henry Adkins in Fort Worth. Mrs. Adkins taught in Coleman schools for a short time before moving to Austin, where she continued teaching. Mrs. Adkins was a member of the Texas Teachers Association, Order of the Eastern Star and Riverbend Church in Austin.

Survivors include her daughter, Leta Laguna of Austin; two grandsons, Jason Laguna and wife, Naomi of Las Vegas, Nevada, Shane Laguna of Austin; three great granddaughters, Kayla Laguna of Austin, Jenae Laguna of Austin, Grace Laguna of Las Vegas, Nevada.

Besides her parents, Mrs. Adkins was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Thomas H. Adkins on August 5, 2012; two brothers, Foster Miller, Robert Miller and son-in-law, Sonny Laguna.
