Elizabeth continued to live on the farm after AJ was killed while standing, silhouetted in the doorway, by Yankee raiders in 1864. He was in the Cherokee County Home Guard Company of the Confederate Army. In the spring of 1865, Elizabeth married Sam Holland and had 5 children. Elizabeth and Sam lived on the farm as the children grew up. After Elizabeth died, she was buried in the Valleytown Cemetary in Andrews between her husbands and near the graves of some of her children.
