Hansford served in the CSA, Co. C, 11th Texas Infantry, and was discharged in May 1865 in Brenham, Texas.
He married Eliza Louisa Green on Sept. 3, 1868 in Hempstead Co., Arkansas.
Together they became the parents of ten including John Pickney Suttle, Willis Suttle, Isaac Demp Suttle, Owen Louis Suttle, Mary Ann Suttle, Rosie Eppie Jane (Suttle) Moncrief, Dora Suttle, Thomas Fredrick Suttle, and Hancie Lettece (Suttle) Parrish.
