He was born December 20, 1931 in Barton, Ohio, a son of the late Joseph and Mora (Kraft) Ayres.
He was Methodist by faith and retired from Oglebay Norton Saginaw Mine as a Coal Miner.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife; Iva Ayres, his son; Edward Gene Ayres and four brothers; Robert, David, Wilford and Donald Ayres.
Surviving are his three children; Dennis "Pete" (Cheri) Ayres, of Maynard, OH, Rebecca (Ron) Malek of Newport, NC, John "Mutzie" Ayres of the home, three grandchildren; Eric Ayres, Troy Ayres and Susan Ayres, three great grandchildren; Annalaise, Claudia and Alexis.
Family and friends will be received for a memorial visitation at the Beck-Altmeyer Funeral Home and Crematory 204 W. Main St. St. Clairsville, Ohio on Thursday March 17, 2011 from 11am until the time of service at 1pm with Reverend James Hildebrand officiating.
Inurnment at Union Cemetery, St. Clairsville, Ohio.
