John O. Charles
John Charles died at the home of his son, George, early last Wednesday morning of dropsy. His home was in Tracy City, Tenn., and he had been visiting in Oklahoma some six weeks, his illness dating from the time he arrived here. The funeral was held in the Alfalfa Methodist church Wednesday afternoon, Rev. Hearn conducted the service. The body was laid to rest in the Alfalfa cemetery.
John O. Charles was born in Chester, Tenn., May 30, 1844 and died June 25, 1919, aged 75 years and 25 days. He was married in 1866 to Anna Sain. to this union four girls and four boys were born, all of whom are living.
Mr. Charles served thru the Civil War in the Confederate army, and was a life long Democrat. He has been a member of the Methodist church for the past forty years.
Mrs. Charles died two years ago in May.
All of the children with the exception of George live in the eastern states.
