Ila Joy Weaver slipped peacefully through the veil from this life to the next, at home surrounded by family and song on March 17, 2011. Born in Richmond, Kan., to Robert Ray and Minnie Atchison, July 1, 1914, she was blessed with a life well lived to 96. She was preceded in death by her husband, C.E. "Tex" Weaver; and two grandchildren, John Eric Weaver and Ray David Pickell. She is survived by her six children, Larry (Anita) Weaver, Santa Cruz, Calif., Arlene (David) Marshall, Topeka, Kan., Donald Weaver, Manila, Calif., Ann Ladd, Pueblo West, Beverly Pickell, Cool, Calif., and Gary (Katie) Weaver, Pueblo West; 17 grandchildren; 19 great- grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and one "adopted" son, Arnie Hendrick, Hawaii. She will be affectionately remembered as a loving and generous mother to her extended family, a hospitable friend to strangers, an ardent fan of K.U. basketball and the U.S. Tennis Open, a masterful knitter, a Christmas candy-maker, having a wry sense of humor, and as a devout woman of faith, courage, resilience and grace. Her memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 26, 2011, First Presbyterian Church, 220 W. 10th St., Pueblo, Colo., with the Rev. Dr. Brad Munroe officiating. Burial will be next to her husband in Richmond, Kan. The family is most appreciative of the compassionate ministry of Sangre de Cristo Hospice and First Presbyterian Church and would suggest memorial gifts be made to either of these caring ministries. "Blessed are the pure in heart."
