Mrs. Daisy Black Passes at Local Hospital Today
Mrs. Daisy Sullivan Black, 68, member of a well-known Davidson County family, and wife of O. T. Black, died this morning at 4:10 at City Memorial hospital, Thomasville, where she had been a patient for one day. She was a resident of Holly Grove Road in the Emmanuel Evangelical and Reformed church community and was for years a member of Grace Lutheran church in Thomasville. She had been in declining health for twelve years and had been seriously ill just one week.
Mrs. Black was born September 1, 1881 in Davidson County near Thomasville, daughter of the late William and Mary Lunda Sullivan. She was married in 1899 to Mr. Black, who survives.
Other survivors are six sons, Kenneth and Raymond Black of Thomasville, R. 2; James Black of the home R. 2, Thomasville; Clyde and Carr Black of Thomasville, R. 1; and Luther Black of Thomasville, R. 3; one daughter, Miss Faye Black of the home; three brothers, A. Loten Sullivan and Ed H. Sullivan, both of Thomasville, and Flavius J. Sullivan of Thomasville, R. 2; two sisters, Mrs. F. Stimp Bowers and Mrs. W. E. Stout, both of Thomasville, R. 2; six grandchildren, and a large number of nieces and nephews.
The body is being taken to the home on Thomasville, R. 2, this afternoon. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday afternoon, at 3:30, from Emmanuel Reformed churchm, with the Rev. Charles Wessinger, pastor of Grace Lutheran church, and the Rev. Lawrence Leonard, pastor at Emmanuel, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at three o'clock.
