Born April 19, 1917, in Eckhart, he was the son of the late Robert Gracie and Lucinda (Parker) Gracie. Mr. Gracie was preceded in death by two sisters, Edna Beeman and Helen Filer; and one brother, Robert Gracie Jr.
Mr. Gracie was retired from Ort's Bakery as a machinist, and he formerly worked at the Celanese Fibers Corp. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, and he also served with the C.C. Camp for six months in 1933 in Swallow Falls, Garrett County.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Frostburg, Farrady Post 24 American Legion, Frostburg Senior Citizens Club, Frostburg Moose Lodge 348, El Fidel Club, and S.C.A.M.P.S. Mr. Gracie bowled for 50 years in the Sunday Nite Bowling League, and he was also a 24-year participant of the Maryland Senior Olympics.
Mr. Gracie is survived by his wife, Loretta (Baker) Gracie, Frostburg; three daughters, Genevieve Miller, Owings Mills, Barbara Allen and husband John, Eckhart, and Eileen Topping and husband Gary, Hampstead; 11 grandchildren, Marvin Richard Miller, John Thomas Allen, Kyle Topping, Ryan Topping, I. Edward Livengood and Daniel Albright, Janet (Miller) Murray, Krista (Allen) Livengood, Cathy (Allen) Albright, Karen Miller and Michael Maloney; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Eleanor Hare, York, Pa., and Edith Norris, Eckhart; and three brothers, James Gracie, Cleveland, Ohio, and Earl Gracie and Ned Gracie, both of Frostburg; one sister-in-law, Shirley Gracie, Frostburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the First Presbyterian Church, 33 Broadway, Frostburg, on Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. William Pinches officiating.
Interment will be in the Rest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Military Honors will be accorded at graveside by members of Farrady Post 24 American Legion Honor Guard.
His grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
