Pioneer Resident Passes to Reward

I found a golden key one day
Upon the path I trod,
And it unlocked a golden door
A door that led to God!
And so we bid them goodbye one by one,the Pioneers of Columbus who have been with us all these years, and seemed a part a permanent part of our lives and of our little city. But all things mortal are but transient, and must pass away from the rain sodden earth,of pain, and struggle, and doubt and fear unto the warm Sweet Sunlight of that Land that is brighter far than this.
Peacefully, and quietly she slipped away to the Bosom of God only a few months, weeks or days ahead of us who are following on in the earthly path.
Mrs.P.F. Heller Sr.,one of the original pioneers of our city so passed away after a long useful Christian life on Friday,December 7th.Funeral services were held at the St. Mathias Catholic church, conducted by the Reverand E.F. Park.Seven of her grandsons acted as pallbearers. She was laid to rest in beautiful Odd Fellows Cemetery as the shades of evening drew about her weeping loved ones. Her maiden name was Miss Eva Braden. She was born in Germany in 1841,and came to America in 1848,and was married to P.F.Heller Sr.,who preceded her in death in November 1926.She is survived by seven children;Mrs.Kate Spies,Breslau,Theodore Heller,Halsted,Mrs.John Wessels,Halstad,P.F. Heller Jr.,Mrs.Fred Bunge, and Mrs.Angela Stein,Columbus and Mrs.Louise P. Bunge,Eagle Lake. For the first 38 years of their married life Mr. and Mrs.Heller lived in Fayette county and then they moved to Colorado county, and for the last several years they lived in our little town, loved and admired by all who knew them, for their many sterling qualities. We who knew them will held them long and dear in our memories. To them we send the tenderest thoughts of our hearts. We would send beautiful flowers as any in Paradise. We look at the sea upon which they set sail and it is shoreless. It passes our comprehension ,and we accept with resignation that they are in this keeping at last. There is a realm, where the rainbow never fades, where the guiding stars spread out above us like the islands of the sea,and where the beautiful things that pass on the shadows cast by the evening sun stay with us forever.
Let us remember God's promise to the faithful, and be comforted!
"There is no death,
What seems so is transition.
This life of mortal breath
Is but a suburb of the life Elysian,
Whose portal we call death."
