Mass of Christian Burial was held Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Flensburg, with Father Leo Moenkedick officiating. Burial was in Sacred Heart Parish Cemetery in Flensburg.
Alex was born Sept. 14, 1915, in Pike Creek Township, Morrison County, to the late Frank and Mary (Lesinski) Kurowski. He grew up and attended country school in Pike Creek Township. Alex was united in marriage to Mary Van Hoever Feb. 12, 1945, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Flensburg. The couple farmed in Culdrum Township for the majority of their lives. He did work at Tri-City Paving in
Little Falls, for several years which he greatly enjoyed.
Alex was very active in his community, volunteering on various boards and committees. He served on the School District #31 School Board, as director of Creameries Blending Board, supervisor of Culdrum Township Board, board of director with Todd County Dairy, and Flensburg Sportsman Club board member. Alex also was a member of the Sobieski Lions, Knights of Colombus, and a life long member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He loved to hunt, fish, and play cards. Alex always enjoyed the time he spent with family and friends at his cabin in Crosslake.
Alex is survived by sons, Melvin (Marilyn) Kurowski of Little Falls and Clarence (Izzy) Kurowski of Merrifield; daughter, Carol (Kenneth) Merten of Sartell; brother, John (Pat) Kurowski of Sartell; sister-in-law, Phyllis Kurowski of Little Falls; grandsons, Jeff (Christy) Kurowski, Michael (Michelle) Kurowski, Mark (friend Mary) Kurowski, Lance (Debbie) Kurowski, Douglas (Terry) Kurowski, and Jake and Dylan Merten; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Alex is preceded in death by parents, Frank and Mary Kurowski; wife, Mary Kurowski; brothers, Louis and Clarence Kurowski; and sisters, Esther Sowada and Margaret Joseph.
