Funeral services for Elizabeth "Lizzie" Rhine, 88, of Bakersfield, were held Sunday, Sept. 23, 2012, at Full Gospel Church in Bakersfield. Mrs. Rhine died Thursday, Sept. 20, at Hospice House of the Ozarks in Mountain Home, Ark.

She was born May 1, 1924, at Vidette, Ark., to Hamey and Ora Johnson Bales. On Aug. 31, 1948, she married Jake Rhine at Salem, Ark.

Mrs. Rhine was a homemaker and a seamstress; she loved to make quilts, especially for her grandchildren. She also enjoyed shopping and cooking meals for her family.

She was a member of Full Gospel Church in Bakersfield.

She is survived by five children, Sharon Walker and husband Donnie of Henderson, Ark., Judy Mullins and husband Mickey of Bakersfield, Ellen Shrable and husband Danny of Gepp, Ark., Daniel Rhine and wife Sandra of Salem, Ark. and June Norman and husband Rex of Sturkie, Ark.; 14 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren (and another on the way); one great-great-grandchild; one brother, Erby Bales and wife Sunshine of Bakersfield; one sister, Agnes Pendergrass of Mountain Home; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband on July 23, 1996; her parents; two brothers, Harley Bales and wife Lorene, and Everett Bales and wife Maxine; and one brother-in-law, Noel Pendergrass.

Burial was in the Bakersfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice House of the Ozarks or to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, and may be left at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home in West Plains. Online condolences may be left at robertsondrago.com.
