---The elderly woman killed in a traffic accident north of Kirksville, Friday afternoon has been identified as June Dye, 83 of Kirksville.
---The accident occurred on U.S. 63, 5 miles N of Kirksville at 12:?? pm. Fri. when a southbound vehicle driven by Ruth Barnett, 70 of Kv. attempted to pass a southbound pickup truck driven by Sylvanne Sue Kelley (sp?), of Queen City. The Barnett vehicle [spun] out on ice and collided with the pickup. June Dye, a passenger in the Barnett auto was thrown from the vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
---June Dye was born Jun 14, 1894 in Adair Co., the daughter of George and Dicey Holloway Leavitt on June 29, 1914 in _____ she was wed to Glen Dye who preceded her in death on Oct. 3, 1968. Also preceding her in death were one son, Garnett Dye in 1975.; one granddaughter, three brothers, and two sisters, ____ Leona Heaberlin on Sept 21.
---Surviving are one son, Wilfred Dye of Elwood, Ks., one daughter, Mrs. Darrell (Edna Pauline) Lee of East Moline, Ill:, seven_____ grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and two sisters, Ruth Barnett of 607 S. College Grove and Elsie Butler of 142 Valley Forge Drive.
---Mrs. Dye spent most of her life in the La Plata area before moving to Kirksville in May. Since that time she resided at 14___ Valley Forge Drive.
---She was a member of the La Plata United Methodist Church where funeral services were held Mon. afternoon (Dec. 12, 1977) at 1:30. The Rev. Orville Shriver of La Plata conducted the services. Burial was in the La Plata Cemetery.
---Bearers were Gail Herron, Eugene Harris, Keith Leavitt, Paul Henberlin, Bobby Leavitt and Robert Butler.
