Benona L. Harrington
Benona L. Harrington passed away yesterday at the Sourdiffe Convalescent Home on the South Stream Rd.
Born Sept 19, 1877 to Abel and Anna Jepson Harrington, he had received his education in Shaftsbury. During his lifetime he was affliated with Eagle Square Mfg. Co, H.C. White Co., A.S. Payne Co., Bennington Brush, Warner's Brush and Thompson Woodworking.
He married Sally Adams of White Creek on April 29, 1895. They made their home in Shaftsbury and North Bennington for a number of years, but for the past 19 years they had lived in Bennington, most recently on Burgess Road.
Throughout his life he loved hunting and fishing, but his real hobby was playing the violin. In earlier days he played at many kitchen dances. He was a man greatly interested in people and always active in his neighborhood as well as community projects.
Surviving beside his wife are three sons, Jesse G. of Hoosick Falls; Byron A. of Bennington and Robert L. also of Bennington; two daughters, Mrs. Rupert Montgomery and Mrs. Leo Vandale (Velma) both of Bennington, nine grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren.
The family will be in attendance at the Walbridge Funeral Home tonight from 2:00 to 5:00 and in the evening from 7:00 until 9:00. The funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery.
