Basheba "Bashie" Lindley was born to Samuel Washington and Elizabeth Whitley Lindley on March 5, 1811, in Illinois. She married John Sadler on November 18, 1830. John and Bashie came to Texas with her family, arriving by 1833 because their son, James Caine was said to have been born in Montgomery County, Texas, in the fall of 1833. They settled in Montgomery County and Walker County and later in Limestone County. Their nine children were born in Montgomery County. Basheba died on October 17, 1885. Basheba's brother, Jonathan Lindley, was killed at the Alamo.
