The Translation of the Herman Heinrich Suek obituary:
9/29/1842 – 9/9/1913
After about six months of steady illness, the well-known Heinrich Suek passed away on the farm run by his sons. His wife predeceased him three years earlier. After her death he moved to Freeport where his youngest daughter kept house for him until his illness made it necessary for him to move back to the farm for better care. There he died in the 74th year of his God-given life. The surviving children are: two sons, Bernhard and Heinrich, and four daughters: Mrs. Heinrich Scherping, Mrs. John Hilt, who lives in Montana, Mrs. Conrad Ostendorf, and Bernardina (unmarried). Other close relatives of the deceased include John Suek of Melrose, a brother, Mrs. William Schaefer from here, a sister of the deceased. A brother and a sister of the departed still live in Westphalia in Europe, which the deceased visited in the summer of 1910. Mr. Suek emigrated from Westphalia to America 33 years ago and acquired a farm two and a half miles northeast of Freeport. He married Miss Elizabeth Wenning shortly after arriving in this country, and the family developed a prosperous and independent living through hard work and frugality. The burial took place on Thursday attended by an exceptional number of mourners. The members of the St. Joseph Men's Union turned out in remarkable numbers to escort their comrade to the grave.
May he rest in peace.
