Geneva Avis Shy
(April 3, 1927 - December 3, 2009)

Geneva Avis Shy daughter of the late Naomia Shrum Barton and Levi Barton was
born at Redford, Missouri, on April 3, 1927. She departed this life at Salem
Memorial District Hospital in Salem, Missouri, on December 3, 2009, having
attained the age of 82 years and eight months.

On May 24, 1945 in Ironton, Missouri, Geneva was united in marriage to Ralph Shy
and to this loving union one daughter was born. Geneva and Ralph were married
for 64 years. Geneva taught school at Ottery and Hawk Lane schools. They owned
and operated Shy's Country Store for 19 years. Geneva also drove a school bus
and worked at the camp grounds. She sold real estate and worked in a saw mill.
Geneva was a wonderful cook and enjoyed crocheting, but most of all she loved
spending time with her family and spoiling her grandchildren and
great-grandchildren.

Geneva was preceded in death by her parents, Levi and Naomia Barton, and brother
Gene Barton.

Geneva is survived by her husband Ralph Shy of Black, Missouri, her daughter,
Carol Huff and companion, Tony Guillen of Bunker, Missouri, one granddaughter,
Sandy Williams and husband Eddie of Black, Missouri, two great-grandchildren,
Annette Henson of Cherry Point, North Carolina, Brandon Williams and wife
Lindsey of Black, Missouri, and two great-great-grandchildren, Luke and Alex.
Geneva will be deeply missed by her family and many friends who will mourn her
passing.

Visitation: Fri. 5 to 8 P.M.

Funeral Services: Saturday, December 5, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. McSpadden Funeral
