W. J. SMEDLEY DIES, OKLAHOMA RITES PLANNED TUESDAY--
William Jesse Smedley, 3402 Cornelia St., agent for the Reserve Life Insurance Co, for the past three years, died at 9:15 o'clock Sunday morning in a local hospital. He had been ill several weeks.
The body was taken overland by Gray-Sorrells Funeral Home to Edmond, OK, today and funeral rites will be observed at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at Baggerly Funeral Chapel at Edmond, OK. Interment will be in Gracelawn Cemetery in that city. Pallbearers will be Allen Leckey, Robert Clinton, Bob Tracy, Robert O'Connor, Fred Arthur and Elmer Johnson, all of Oklahoma.
Born in Agency, Missouri, on September 16, 1904, Smedley was the son of Oscar and Bettie Smedley. He left Missouri when of 16 years of age and was for 20 year a railway employee in Edmond, OK. Smedley moved to Greenville six weeks ago from Houston. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Agency, MO. Surviving are his wife, the former Mary A. Nocton whom he married in Kansas, May 5, 1948; his parents, Mr and Mrs Oscar Smedley of Agency, MO; and a sister, Helen Smedley.
