She grew up in West Decatur (aka Blue Ball) and attended the local elementary school there. With her family, she attended the West Decatur United Brethern Church.
Jane graduated Philipsburg High School in 1950.
She married Edwin Charles Butterworth on November 2, 1951; at Trinity United Methodist Church in Philipsburg.
She would work at the Cigar factory until the birth of her last child in 1967. She and Edwin raised their family in Chester Hill until the early 70's when they moved to the Juniata neighborhood in Altoona, Penna.
The couple returned to Clearfield County after her husband retired from the railroad. On December 29, 1998 at 8:10 a.m.; she passed away at the United Presbyterian Home of the Moshannon Valley in Philipsburg.
She was survived by her husband, all five of her children, 12 grandchildren and two sisters. She was preceded in death by her parents, step-mother, and a sister Vivian.
Services were held on January 1, 1999; at David K. Dahlgren Funeral home in Philipsburg with the Rev. Peter F. Gerschwinder of Gethsemane United Methodist Church in Allport officiating.
Interment was at Allport Cemetery.
