Oscar was born the son of a farmer on the Eastern Shore of Maryland and ended life as a businesman in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He married Mary Amelia Powell, also of Maryland. According to a Federal Census, he was a Motorman for Trolley #Six (a job to cover expenses while he started his new businesses), broke wild mustangs from Texas and sold them to their new owners in Philadelphia, ran a push-cart concession on the boardwalk of Atlantic City New Jersey during summer months, and operated a linen and towel supply business which he later sold to Bugle Linen Supply Company in Baltimore, Maryland. As an aging widower, he moved into the household of his son, George William Davis and when he died, he was buried beside his wife, Mary Amelia in this family plot which he purchased.
