Elma Irene Branch died Feb. 10, in Milwaukie. She was 92.
She was born on Sept. 13, 1918, in New Pine Creek, Calif., to Earl William and Thelma Ruth (Taylor) Butler. She graduated from Modoc High School in Alturas, Calif., in 1937, and married John W. Branch in Reno, Nev., on June 10, 1937.
She enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing and walking. Canning was a big part of her summers. In her early years she was known for often catching her limit fishing on the Chewaucan River. She was a member of the Paisley Sunshine Club and Paisley Methodist Church since 1946, where she served as treasurer for about 30 years.
She is survived by: her daughter, Sandra Stehn and husband, Bob of Milwaukie; sister, Joy Mahan and husband, Glenn of Lafayette, Calif.; brother, Kenneth Butler and wife, Elsie of Philomath; grandchildren, Mark Stehn and wife, Melissa of McMinnville; Julie Dowhaniuk and husband, Ron of Milwaukie, and Tammy Steffens and husband, Dannie of Sherwood; and great grandchildren, Matthew and Sarah Stehn, Blake and Brandon Kelley, Christopher and Patrick Dowhaniuk, and Tanner, Hannah and Gracie Steffens. Elma was preceded in death by her husband, John, and daughter, Glenda Branch.
A funeral service was held in February at the Paisley Community Center. Interment was at the Paisley Cemetery.
