John E. Adams prominent ranchman and farmer answers last call (by special correspondent)
The sudden death of John E. Adams, of Blanding, following an attack of heart disease, came as a shock to the old timers of San Juan county, Tuesday.
Born at Parowan, Utah, June 13, 1866. He was nearing his seventieth birthday when his call came. He moved to Bluff with his brothers George A. and Franklin J., in 1882, they engaging in the cattle raising business at which they prospered along with most of the old timers who carved homes out of the wilderness. Unlike many of his early day associates, John Adams continued to prosper up to the day of death, he being of a frugal unassuming and honest plodding nature.
On April 4, 1887, he married Miss Margaret Nielson, daughter of Bishop Jens Nielson, in the Logan Temple.
the union was blessed with four boys and five girls, all of whom, together with the bereaved wife and mother, survive him. The children are: Kistie Perkins, J. Ernest Adams, Carlie Adams, Lloyd, Melvin and Joseph Adams, and Effie Sherman, Clara Adams and Pearl Bayles.
