Loraine Barnes, 92, resident of Louisa, Va., died on Wednesday, August 4, 2021. Loraine was born on October 9, 1928, in Chattanooga, Tenn. She was married for 49 years when her husband William Franklin Barnes Jr., also known as "Buddy," preceded her death in 1995. Buddy served his country in World War II. Loraine ran a 24 hour daycare in her home for many years before retiring. Retirement is a strange descriptive word, for Loraine never really did retire. Loraine would spend hours toiling over her beautiful plants, flowers and trees. She loved her home, especially the precious critters living among the beauty of her land.

Loraine is survived by her children, daughter, Martha White (David); son, William Barnes III; daughter, Lottie Cissel (David); daughter, Tracy McClure; (Bob), daughter Dixie Barnes, and daughter Holly Barnes. She was proud of her five grandchildren, David White, William White, Daniel Cissel, Jennifer McGee, and Robert McClure Jr., and her 7 great-grandchildren.

Loraine will be missed by many and loved by all.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 8, 2021, from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., at Teague Funeral Service in Charlottesville. A graveside service will follow at 1 p.m. at Holly Memorial Gardens. A celebration of Loraine's life will be held afterwards at 2:30 p.m. at Rugby Avenue Church of Christ in Charlottesville.
