Jacob Wagner Boulder Pioneer Dies Following Long Illness
Jacob Wanger, 85, a resident of this county for nearly 59 years, died at the home of his son, Harry Wagner, last Friday following a long illness.
Rosary was recited Sunday at the Lowry Chapel and funeral services were held from St. Joseph's Catholic church Monday morning at 10 o'clock, Rev. P. C. Wolframski officiated at the rites. Music was by the St. Joseph's choir.
Active Pallbearers were Martin Cosgriff, Charles McDonnell, Joseph Spanniring, Harry McComb, Ed Schidlkofer, and Frank Ault. Honorary pallbearers were Charles Voges, Al McComb, W. D. McKenzie, J. D. Holly, Phil Phillipson, Mervin Sell, Ole Nordstrom, John Campbell, and Perry Jasper. Burial was in Mountain View.
A son of Mr. and Mrs. John Wagner, Mr. Wagner was born in Johnsburg, Wis., January 15, 1862. He was married to Gertrude Jaensgen on February 26, 1889, at Johnsburg, and they came to Livingston the same year. He was engaged in the carpenter trade for a time there and then moved to Big Timber. He then purchased the ranch on the Boulder where he resided for nearly 55 years until his death. Mrs. Wagner passed away several years ago.
Surviving are five sons, Albert and Harry of Big Timber; Ralph at the home ranch, and Raymond and Edgar of Fond du Lac, Wis., both of whom were here for the funeral; one sister, Mrs. Frances Stephany of Johnsburg, Wis; two brothers; Peter Wagner of Johnsburg and Nick Wagner of Bell Flower, Calif.; also 15 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
