John "Elmer" was born in Poplar Creek,he married Estella Lowery on his birthday, 27 Aug 1888 Menomonie, Dunn, Wisconsin. (the JP who married them stated at the end of the marriage return,they were young and good looking) To this union 11 known children were born, 1 a stillborn son in 1912 & twins Mabel & Myrtle b 1892, all living to adulthood.

The Whiteis book: Frank Lowery work for Elmer when he was 17 states: he was tall & handsome, always whistling, even at 4 a m in the morning, singing most of the day,

Another of Elmer's cousins, Barney Corey, states, he never walked, was always on the "trot" had a lot of energy, even younger men had trouble keeping up with him

Elmer and family lived for a while in Anacortes, WA where he operated a grocery store and oil station. Next move was the Rogue Rover (River??) probably Oregon. In 1934 he returned to Wisconsin to visit family, and Minnesota to visit his brother Tim, during that visit he died in Buhl & buried in Hibbing. MN (I have not been able to find the cemetery)
