Estella Almira Taylor, daughter of Ambrose and Nancy Tripp Taylor, was born on September 24, 1859, at Dundee, Delaware County, IA. As a child she was baptized & united with the Methodist church & remained so her entire life.

On Thanksgiving day, November 28, 1878, she was united in marriage at Manchester, Delaware County, IA, to George Washington Briggs. He preceded her in death on April 16, 1926.

To this union was born 11 children, all of whom survived her at the time of her death. At the time of her death she had 28 grand-children, 27 great-grandchildren & and 1 great-great-grandchild.

She passed away at Manchester, Delaware County, IA, on January 13, 1944 at the age of 85 yrs., 3 mths, & 19 days, after a lingering illness of several years.

Funeral services were held at the Fawcett Funeral Home in Winthrop, Buchanan County, IA, at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 15, 1944, with the Rev. F. M. Strange, pastor of the Congregational church, officiating. Interment was in the Spring Hill Cemetery at Dundee, Delaware County, IA, beside her husband.

Six grandsons acted as pallbearers: Clarence and Junior Fuhrman, Nelson and John Ives, James Briggs and Bob Briggs.
