Services for Alberta C. "Bertie" Freeze, 85, Aledo, formerly of Coal Valley, are 11 a.m. Tuesday at Trimble Funeral Home, Aledo. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal.

Visitation is 9 a.m. to service time. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Joy.

Alberta died Friday, Sept. 3, 1999, at Mercer County Hospital.

Alberta Claire Meade was born May 20, 1914, in Fithian, Ill., the daughter of Loyal T. and Goldie L. (Carson) Meade. She married the Rev. Russell Dwayne Freeze Oct. 18, 1947, in Peoria, Ill. They worked together in the Family Shoe Store in Aledo until she retired in 1982. He preceded her in death Jan. 16, 1993.

Alberta was a member of First Baptist Church of Joy. She also enjoyed listening to country music.

Alberta is survived by daughters and sons-in law, Kathryn and David Stegall, Coal Valley, and Glenna and Tom Fenwick, Halfmoon Bay, Calif.; a son and daughter-in-law, Dan and Marian Reese, Morton; sisters, Agatha Beebe, Creve Coeur, and Kathryn Morgan, Bourbonnais; 13 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. Alberta was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Jane, and a son, Robert G. Reese.
