Connie Hernandez, 78, of Rogue River died Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2002, at her home.
Recitation of the rosary will be at 6 p.m. today at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors chapel. A mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Anne Catholic Church, with the Rev. Gregory Moys officiating. Interment will follow at Hawthorne Memorial Gardens.
Hernandez was born April 8, 1924, in Pecos, Texas, and later moved to Carlsbad, N.M. She married Greg Hernandez, who survives. They moved to San Jose, Calif., in 1956 and lived there 20 years. In 1976, they moved to Merced, Calif., and then to Rogue River in 1995.
She enjoyed arts and crafts, dancing, bingo and trips to Reno.
In addition to her husband, survivors include three daughters, Eloise Martinez of Oceanside, Calif., Yvonne Shamblin of Rogue River and Rosanne Chavez of Tacoma, Wash.; two sons, Gregory Hernandez Jr. of Orangevale, Calif., and David Hernandez of Sammamish, Wash.; her mother, Maria Lara of Fresno, Calif.; five sisters, Carmen Montoya and Sue Snow, both of Carlsbad, N.M., Maria Elena Contreras of Pinedale, Calif., and Catalina Peralta and Lupe Lara, both of Fresno, Calif.; two brothers, Enrique Lara of Fresno, Calif., and Richard Lara of Madera, Calif.; and 12 grandchildren.
