Whitney Messenger December 23, 1904
Died on Dec. 21, 1904, at 7 o'clock p.m., Gracie Shelly, the youngest son of Mr. & Mrs. J. H. Shelly. He was born Sept. 26, 1893 being aged 11 years, 2 months and 25 days at the time of his death. He was stricken on Dec. 20, being sick only 28 hours, when death relieved him of his suffering. He had gone with his older brothers to the timbers, about two miles from home, to get a load of wood, and was taken violently ill. Everything that medical aid and loving hands could do could not stay the hand of death. Besides a host of relatives and friends to mourn his loss, he leaves a father and mother and the following brothers and sisters: Ernest Shelly, Mrs. J.L. Barker, Mrs. J. I. Cierley, Willie, Tommie Truman and Jewell Shelly.
