MR. RICHARD AUDLEY BLANKENSHIP, 89, of Rocky River, Ohio, formerly of Huntington, W.Va., passed away Monday, August 18, 2008, at his residence. He was born August 21, 1918, in Cabell County, West Virginia, the eldest son of the late Cline G. and Virgie Dodson Blankenship. He was preceded in death by a son, James E. Blankenship; three sisters, Catherine Seitz, Mary Elizabeth Gibson and Shirley Waugh; and four brothers, Jack Blankenship, Gene Blankenship, Robert Blankenship and Keith Blankenship. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Virginia Breitenstein Blankenship; a son and daughter-in-law, Donald R. and Emese Blankenship of Rocky River, Ohio; daughter-in-law Susan Smith of Buffalo, N.Y.; a sister, Barbara Sue Russell of Barboursville, W.Va.; and grandchildren Emese A. Blankenship and Katalin E. Blankenship of Rocky River, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, August 23, 2008, at Chapman's Mortuary, Huntington, with Rev. Eugene Houck officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery, Huntington. Friends may call at Chapman's Mortuary from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, August 22, 2008. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that expressions of sympathy may be made to Crook Chapel Church, Huntington, W.Va.
