Florence - George Edwood Hewett, 78, died Friday, April 21, 1995, at his residence after a long illness.

Graveside services will be 3 p.m. Sunday, April 23, in Florence Memorial Gardens, directed by Waters-Powell Funeral Home.

Mr. Hewett was born in Horry County, a son of Benjamin E. and Mary E. Hewett.

He wsa a salesman for Bray Sales Col. For many years until his retirement.

Mr Hewett served his country for five years in the U.S. Army during World War II and was honorably discharged. He was a disabled veteran, a member of the Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. He also was a charter member of West Florence Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, c/o Commander D.W. Garner, 2831 W. Palmetto St., Florence, S.C. 29501, or to the charity of one's choice.
