Christoph H. Wiegert age 95 of Fairbury passed away on March 10, 2011. He was born April 27, 1915 at Helvey, Nebraska the son of Samuel and Helena Leive Wiegert.
Survivors include her [sic-his; funeral home forgot to change the pronoun from Viola's obituary] children Harold Wiegert and wife Mary, Ronald Wiegert and wife Rosanna, Dale Wiegert, Betty Cacak and husband Mike, 6 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 14, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at the Grace Lutheran Church in Fairbury with Pastor Charles Schmidt officiating. Burial will be in the Fairbury Cemetery.

Chris was the last of the three children born to Sam and Helena Wiegert; the community of Helvey no longer exists, but was north of Fairbury. His two older sisters were Pauline and Eleonore. He took over the family farm, and retired to Fairbury; the family farm is now operated by a grandchild.
Chris married Viola Meyer on 27 Feb 1938. They were a remarkable couple, active until the last couple years of their lives, and very devoted to each other. Viola had been removed to the Fairbury nursing home, and Chris followed. He even followed her into death, with her dying in the morning and he in the evening of the same day.
Chris was a big huggable bear of a man, quick of wit, personable, with twinkling blue eyes. He is surely missed by more than just his immediate family.
