Jick and Hazel had four children, Joyce, Laura, Ryland, and Bill. Per Joyce, their oldest daughter, "Mom was famous for her homemade angel food cakes, and to this day I have the small pan she used to fix our small private cake on our birthday." She died on June 7, 1996, in Overland Park, Kansas, at age 80, and was buried in Follett, Texas.
