Born at Rittershoffen, Germany, now Alsace, France, George, or as he was known as "Henry Sr.", was a son of Hans George Etter (1709) and his first wife, Anna Wein (1711) After his mother's death, his father married one, Mirgit Otlersin, thought to be a spinster.

His father immigrated 25 August 1735 aboard the Billender Oliver.

George "Henry" came later, immigrating 28 August 1750; Ship, Phoenix.

Married Eve "unknown" (it was once thought that he married 2nd to Eva Margaretha , nee Leichman, widow of Johannes Hans Etter, Jr.; however, that had been dis-proven by Moravian Church Records.)

Revolutionary War Veteran - Service, May 1778; Lancaster Co. Mititia, Col. Lower's Battalion, Capt. Robinson's Company.

Family records state "burial plot on the Etter Farm, Guilford Township, Franklin, Pennsylvania." (Now known as Spring Grove Cemetery)
