Richard Raeburn Winsor, Sr.; Lieutenant Colonel A.U.S.:

Born the son of Ruth Ketain Anthony and Glenn Merritt Winsor. Youngest of three brothers from this marriage, which ended with the death of Ruth due to the Spanish Flu Epidemic. Was briefly in an orphanage with his two brothers until they were taken back into the family. His father Glenn may have been at war in Europe (ie WW I) and unable to return until that time. When the boys were re-united with family, however, they were split up: the two eldest going to live with their father, and that very young Richard going to live with his maternal grandmother and aunts who were more prepared to handle a baby full time.

From this point forward came a sad time for this youngest son. His father remarried and had a second family, his older brothers still in the father's household for some time, apparently. Richard was with his mother's family, the Anthonys. The separation often left him alone and uninvited to family gatherings such as birthdays, etc, at his father's home. Meanwhile he found a deep love from his aunts, from the stories.

The records show he was married twice and had two sons, one from each marriage. His military career was a successful one, going by military records and his gravestone information. He retired to Florida with his second wife where they are both now buried.

After his 2nd wife's death he fell ill with Alzheimer's disease and had to relocate to Indiana to be near family until he passed.

His remains were returned home to the New Port Richey area of Florida.
