David W. Getz, 80, of 1107 Kohler Ave., Akron, died on a Sunday at his home.

He was born October, 1854, in Coventry Township, Akron, Ohio, son of the late James Getz and Catherine (Foster) Paulus, (George Paulus - step-father).

Mr. Getz lived his entire life in the Akron community. He was self-employed as a carpenter and painter. He enjoyed his family, horses, and hunting.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Minnie (Ingersoll) Getz, whom he married July 7, 1885 in Summit County. Also deceased a son, David Getz, and daughter Goldie (Getz) Long; brother, George F. Getz.

He is survived by three sons, Seymour (Sadie) of Akron, Grover (Theresa) of Barberton, and Chester (Alvina) of Akron; four daughters, Sylvia (Thomas) Houston of Barberton, Flossie (John) Stonebrook of Akron, Myrtle (Lee) Thompson of Wadsworth, and Carrie (Stanley) Kozak of Barberton; sisters, Martha (John) Murphy of Akron, Ellen (Peter) Crosier of California.

Funeral services were held at 2 p. m. Wednesday at Campfield Hickman Funeral Chapel, 788 Kenmore Blvd., with Rev. H. H. Davis officiating. Buried at Lakewood Cemetery.
