David Lucas "Dave" Aberasturi
1937 - 2004

David was born in Boise, Idaho, on August 1, 1937, to Raymond and Ramona Aberasturi. He was raised on a farm west of Homedale where he developed his lifelong passion for farming and ranching. While attending high school in Homedale he met and fell in love with Louise Upham. They were married in January 1956 and over the next several years they were blessed with five sons. Dave continued farming and passed his work ethic down to his sons. He moved his family several times pursuing farming and ranching positions in Idaho.

In 1980, personal problems led to a divorce and he roamed the western states until finally finding a foreman position with Snow Crest Ranch in Montana. While there he found peace with himself. It was also there he found a feisty little cook named Margie who won his heart. They were married in 1985 and together they explored several ranching opportunities in Montana and California.

Dave retired from farming and moved several times to be closer to family. Most recently he lived in Ely, Nevada until the death of his beloved Margie in October of 2004. Farming and ranching defined his life, but to those who loved him be was much more. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be greatly missed. His last few months he was surrounded by loved ones who cared for him and enjoyed his wry humor in the face of his illness.

David Aberasturi passed away Friday, December 31, 2004 after a brief battle with terminal cancer. Funeral services were conducted at St. Hubert's Catholic Church in Homedale. Prior to the service, a viewing was available at Flahiff Funeral Chapel. Interment was at Victor Cemetery in Victor, Montana.

He was preceded in death by his wife Margie, father Raymond, mother Ramona, daughter-in-law Deonna and nephew Raymond.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Salvation Army. The family also wants to thank Life's Door Hospice for the care they gave our dad and the wonderful support they offered the family.
