OBIT: RUSHVILLE - George A. Korte, 91, of Rushville died at 1:25 a.m. Monday, March 24, 1997, at Snyder-Vaughn Haven Nursing Home. Born July 5, 1905, in Bainbridge Township, Schuyler County, to Adolph and Nettie Houser Korte, he married Sarah Suzane "Susie" Lawler on Jan. 10, 1929, in Macomb. She died Oct. 15, 1971. He also was preceded in death by one brother and one sister. Surviving are one daughter, Carlene Detrick of Rushville; two sons, Vernie of Ellwood and Carl of Manistique, Mich.; nine grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. A lifelong Schuyler County farmer, he retired in 1972. He was a member of the Schuyler County Farm Bureau. He was a member of Rushville Church of the Nazarene. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville. The Revs. Steve Shotts and Stan Cooley will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Palm Cemetery west of Rushville. Memorials may be made to his church.
