She was born Thursday, January 14, 1943 at Hendricks, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Donald Johnson and Betty Flynn Johnson. She was married to Verl O. Simmons, Jr. who survives. They had celebrated forty-three years of marriage.
Also surviving is one son, Donald B. Simmons, Beverly, West Virginia, one brother, Donald Johnson, Elkins, three sisters, Patty Simmons and Charlotte Corley, both of Elkins, and Roxanna Watson, Junior, West Virginia, three grandchildren, Malcolm Gabriel and Nathan David Simmons, both of Grantsville, Maryland, and Shane Bradley Simmons, Beverly, West Virginia.
Preceding her in death were two sons, Verl O. �Spike� Simmons III and John H. Simmons.
She graduated from Parsons High School with the class of 1961 and had worked for the Huttonsville Correctional Center as a Corrections Officer for fifteen years. She loved camping and traveling and was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene at Elkins.
The family will receive friends at the First Church of the Nazarene on Tuesday from 6 until 9 PM. Final rites will be conducted from the church on Wednesday, June 22, 2005 at 2 PM. The Reverend Terry A. Burgess will officiate and interment will follow at the Beverly Cemetery at Beverly, West Virginia.
