Retired Policeman, T. J. Abell, Dies. Talmadge Jones Abell, 81, of 621 Lyndale Drive, West Columbia, retired Columbia policeman, died Tuesday at his residence. He was born in Blythewood, son of the late Arthur A. and Emma Sims Abell. He was a member of Park Street Baptist Church and the Master Workmans Sunday School Class. He retired from the Columbia Police Department after 40 years service and was an army veteran of World War I. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Juanita Wise of West Columbia and Mrs. Katherine Ross of Aiken; three sons, R. E. and W. W. Reddick of Cayce, C.P. Reddick of Miami, Fla.; a sister, Mrs. Wade H. Brazell of Columbia and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Elmwood Cemetery conducted by the Rev. James Oliver. Members of the Master Workmans Sunday School Class will serve as pallbearers. Dunbar Funeral Home, Gervais Street Chapel, is in charge. © The State, Columbia, SC, 23 Jul 1975
