Funeral services for the Rev. J. O. Holum were held at Coon Prairie Lutheran Church in Westby, Wisconsin, on Thursday, February 3, 1976. Rev. Manfred Knudsvig and Rev. LaVerne Nelson officiated at the service.

James O. Holum was born September 26, 1886 and passed away on January 29, 1976. He was 89 years old. He is survived by his wife, Signe; two daughters, Katherine and Mrs. Paul (Justine) Lionberger; four granddaughters, Mrs. Douglas (Mary) Marske, Mrs. Gary (Ann) Kittelson, Ruth and Martha; one sister, Ida Holum, and one brother, Ben Holum. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Theodore, Karl and Alfred and two sisters, Emma and Martha.
Burial was in Coon Prairie Cemetery.
Rev. Holum was well known and a friend to many in the DeForest area. Mrs. Adolph Nordeng was a cousin to Rev. Holum. (DeForest Times-Tribune, DeForest, Wisconsin, March 11, 1976, Page 14, Column 5)
