Born on Thursday, Nov. 19, 1925, in Casey County to Walter and Nancy Carman Patterson, Peanut was a member of Pond Baptist Church and had 30 years of perfect attendance in Sunday School. He was a member of Farm Bureau and the VFW. Peanut served his country in the Army during World War II. He was an employee of Farmers No. 1 Tobacco Warehouse in Danville for 17 years, a Lincoln County school bus driver for 26 years and a life-long farmer who loved the land.
Peanut leaves behind his wife, Fama Adams Patterson, whom he wed on Dec. 11, 1948; son, Lynville "Bub" (Janet) Patterson of Pond Ridge; daughters, Linda (Danny) Roberts of Nicholasville, Lana (Joe) Hixson of Pond Ridge, Gail Hamilton of Pond Ridge; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and a host of loving family and friends.
Peanut was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Delbert, Oran, Cleo, Theodore and Ethridge Patterson.
An Appreciation of Life service will be 11 a.m., Monday, Feb. 14, 2011, at Pond Baptist Church with Bros. Chester Cornett and Ronnie Haste officiating. Burial will follow in Pond Cemetery with military honors by Caswell Saufley American Legion Post No.18.
Visitation will be at the church on Sunday, Feb. 13, after 4 p.m.
Active pallbearers will be Tom and Tim Roberts, Sonny Patterson, Darrin Buskirk, Danny Lane, Mark Wilson, Jeff Wesley and David Blakeman. Honorary pallbearers will be Dee-Dee Lane, Michelle Floyd, Nicole Buskirk, Kellie Wilson, Jill Watson, Bridgett Blakeman, Stephanie Wesley, Amy and Missy Roberts, Sara Patterson and Billy Floyd.
In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Pond Cemetery Fund in care of Gail Hamilton, 2120 Pond School Road, Kings Mountain, KY 40442.
