Recall Early Days of City. Kansas City Couple to celebrate 54th Wedding Anniversary Today.

Their fifty-fourth wedding anniversary well be celebrated today by Mr. and Mrs. John B. Green of 26 East Spring Street. Mr Green was born in Birmingham, England, in 1846, and is wife in Stony Stratford in 1848. They came to America after the birth of their two older children. For two years they remained in New York and then they came to Kansas City.

"Where we live now was far out in the country when we first came to Kansas City," said Mrs. Green, who was a hale and hearty, despite her age, and has not a gray hair. "That house over there used to be a farmhouse where I could get butter for twelve and one-half cents a pound."

Mr. Green, now retired, was a letter carrier for twelve years, starting when the city only employed eleven carriers. He has held various civil offices. He was employed at one time in the city treasurer's office and was a later a clerk in the police court of Judge J.J. Davenport.

Mr. and Mrs. Green, have four children, seven grand-children and two great grand-children. Two of the children live in Kansas City, William Green of 3925 Charlotte Street, and Mrs. Daisy Kollmann, of 4140 Campbell Street. The other two children are Charles Green, of Richmond, Cal., and Mrs. Maude Buttrick, of Collbran, Col.
