George G. Corp, 78, of Citrus Springs, died Thursday, March 10, 2011, at his home under the loving care of his family and Hospice of Citrus County. He was born March 4, 1933, in Coventry, Rhode Island and came here 33 years ago from Clearwater, FL, and established the Corp Brothers Business Machines Company. He retired in 2002. George was a U.S. Air Force veteran, a 32nd degree Mason, a Shriner, a member of Citrus Sertoma, The American Legion, V.F.W. and was a charter member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Clearwater. He enjoyed motorcycling and woodworking in his shop with his good friend Bobby Guilmet.
He is survived by his wife Lillian "Del" Corp; son Glenn Corp; daughter Lane Shaw (Ken); stepson Rick LaVallee of Blue Ridge, GA; stepdaughter Dawn LaVallee; brothers Bill Corp (June), Ray Corp (Erica) and Tom Corp; and granddaughters Jessica Shaw and Jessica Popehn. A memorial gathering will be held on Wednesday March 16 at 2 p.m. at Strickland Funeral Home Chapel in Crystal River. If you so desire, a memorial contribution may be made in George's name to Hospice of Citrus County.
