Bird Murphy, manager of the Murphy Candy Company of Sugarhouse, died Sunday at his home, 839 Simpson avenue. He was born in Mill Creek, January 1, 1863, the son of Jesse E. and Mary Murphy, and had resided in Salt Lake all his life. He had been in the candy manufacturing business for forty years.
He is survived by two widows, Mrs. Martha L. Murphy and Mrs. Edna Murphy, and the follwing 13 sons and daughters: Lynn Murphy, Salt Lake; Mrs. Robina Harmon, Los Angeles; Mrs. Irene Millet, Salt Lake; Kenneth Murphy, New Jersey; Mrs. Louise Douglas, Los Angeles; Raymond Murphy, Salt Lake; Roy Murphy, Salt Lake; Mrs. Thelma Davenport, Los Angeles; Miss LaVon Murphy, Glenn, Mildred, Catherine and Marie Murphy, all of Salt Lake. The following ten brothers and sisters also survive: Mark, Charles, Frank, Thomas and Hyrum Murphy, Mrs. Etta Horn, Mrs. Lulu Garff, Mrs. Mary R. Norris, Mrs. Ella Smith and Mrs. Maude Hovey. Ten grandchildren are also among the survivors.
