Born February 8, 1919, in Bald Hill, OK, Byron was the son of Oscar and Genveal (Cotter) Ootton. Byron was a cook in the Army during WWII. He drove a wrecker for 25 years in Haskell and lived in Rotan since 1989. He loved everything to do outdoors including visiting his "Ponderosa" and rummaged for "junk."
Byron was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Jimmy Ootton.
He is survived by his "wiener dog," Judy; two sons and two daughters-in-law, Trois and Mary Ootton of Oklahoma and Junior and Jeanette Ootton of Graham; three daughters and one son-in-law, Denise and Tim Reed of Sweetwater, Bonnie McGinnis of Carnes City, TX and Kelley Payne of Oklahoma; eleven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one great grandchild on the way.
