Mrs. Blitch was a graduate of Newberry College and attended The Citadel.
She had been employed by Carmike Cinema. She formerly taught school with the Charleston County School District and Aiken County School District.
Sylvia was a member of the Order of the Easter Star, Amaranth, Daughters of the Nile, and a nationally recognized poet.
She is survived by one daughter: Rachel Blitch Glanton of Johns Island, SC; one son: Charles H. "Trey" Blitch, III of North Charleston, SC; one sister: Barbara Andrews of Mobile, AL; one brother: Hugh H. Coleman, Jr. of North Charleston, SC; eight grandchildren: Crissie, Carrie, Cassie, Kody, Kaleb Glanton and Courtney and Charlie Blitch; one great-grandchild.
Interment: Live Oak Memorial Gardens.
