Alice A. Ordway, 49, of Shelby, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at her home. She was born Aug. 31, 1961 in Hart to James and Hilda (Hux) Coleson.
Alice was a 1979 graduate of Hart High School. She attended Grace Bible College in Grand Rapids. She lived in Grand Rapids after college and was employed at Spring Brook Nursing Home. She met her husband, Steven Ordway, a fellow employee, at Spring Brook. They were married June 29, 1991. Alice and Steven moved back to this area to Silver Lake in 1994. They came to Shelby in 1998. She loved to watch Christian television and listen to Christian music. She was a member of Shelby Wesleyan Church. Alice is survived by her husband, Steven; her son, James Russell Ordway; her mother, Hilda Coleson of Mears; her siblings, Harold Coleson of Franklin, Ind., Helen (Tom) Fitzpatrick of Hart, Ruth (James) Musil of Hart and Donald (Sandra) Coleson of Pentwater; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, James Coleson, in 2000.Interment will be in Mears Cemetery.
