Bonnetta June Couch was born April 3, 1921 in Niles, Mich. the daughter of William and Marion Marie (Morse) Couch. She was born, raised and attended school in Niles, Mich. She attended the Presbyterian Church in Niles.
After attending school she went to work in Gary, Ind. as a welder. She then worked as a seamstress for a theatre company in the area.
She was united in marriage to Chester G. Goehring Nov. 12, 1940 in Chesterton, Ind. They lived in several states before settling in the Akeley area in 1943. She has resided near Akeley since.
Being a mother and homemaker was her first priority. In 1958, she went to work at the Ah-Gwah-Ching State Nursing Home in Walker. She began as a patient care aid, retiring as a Licensed Practical Nurse in 1983.
Bonnie enjoyed the outdoors, raising flowers, going for pontoon rides, bird watching, traveling, cross- word puzzles and word games and playing cards. She also enjoyed playing the organ; she loved fireworks and celebrating the Fourth of July every year.
She was a wonderful caregiver to her husband Chester, until his death Dec. 31, 2010. Her family always came first. She will be remembered for her sharp mind, her sense of humor and her love of family.
She is survived by her three sons, Ron Goehring of Akeley, Ray (Jeanette) Goehring of Akeley and Chuck (Pam) Goehring of Akeley; daughter, Shirley (Randy) Mueller of Staples; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Karl (Lillian) Couch of Niles, Mich.; sister, Doreen Miller of Chesterton, Ind.; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Chester Dec. 31, 2010;
daughter, Patricia Lillian; son, James Leroy; two brothers, Doug Couch and Ted Couch.
Private family service: will be held this week at the Cease Family Funeral Home in Nevis.
Interment: will be held in the spring of 2011 at the Akeley City Cemetery, Akeley.
