Rank: Corporal. He transferred to the U.S. Navy, April 2, 1864, was was discharged September 12, 1866. Rank: Mate.

His Grave Registration Card, State of Ohio, shows that he was born in Washington County PA, as do the U.S. Census listing of 1880, 1900, and 1920. However, the Descriptive Boo for Company E, 103rd Ohio Volunteer Infantry, from the National Archives shows Ashtabula County Ohio.
